All of François Azambourg’s work tends towards the essential, simplicity and lightness. His Tracé rug illustrates this approach well: the sketched-out motif seems to have barely scraped the surface of the rug, like a mechanical scribble made with the tip of a pencil. The effect of graphic lightness is reinforced by the contrast between the discreet sheen of the viscose of the motif created using micro-loops and the sobriety of the shaved tufted background in New Zealand wool.
