MONOLOG STOOL
In his search for timelessness, Pieter Maes is fascinated by early art and the traces left behind by 99% of unwritten human history. His work centres on the search for pure forms which belong neither to a specific era nor any particular place. His mission is accomplished anew and with panache in his Monolog stool, the daringly raw lines of which speak directly to our reptilian brain. Monolog leaves no-one indifferent since it seems to be a direct return to the Neolithic in the form of an artefact the presence of which manages all by itself to communicate to us a message from past civilizations, and thus to move us. An internal monologue with humanity’s very first seats, to better explore the animal nature which slumbers in each one of us.
Stool in natural varnished solid black-stained ash (2 bands of black felt beneath each leg).
Designed by Pieter Maes
Made in Portugal for Ligne Roset
